dozens upon dozens of volunteers from throughout the americas worked on kpcn's studios during that low-power fm radio-station's "barnraising weekend" in woodburn, oregon: an event hosted by the pineros y campesinos unidos del noroeste & the prometheus radio project last summer (august 18th-20th, 2006).
a "studio transmitter link" (stl) antenna sends a microwave signal to a receiver under the water tower, which was being mounted that weekend with the FM broadcast antenna that now transmits kpcn-fm programming over the entire woodburn area.
the stl antenna & receiver were being tested & i think tuned here as well...
pictured is a very computer-savvy ericka, a volunteer with wrfg-fm, "radio free georgia," atlanta. the fact that ericka is holding a CD player leads me to believe that this is the stl transmitter antenna.
see how useful taking photos can be? i tried to take it all in, while at the radio barnraising, but there definitely was a lot to absorb in so many different locations!
